October’s quote of the month serves as a reminder to be present in the moment. Had a difficult time last week accepting that I was sick and that my body wanted to be restful. Being stuck on what I had originally planned to do (work, and more work of course) resulted in restlessness until yesterday, when I decided to do something that I love to do: antique shopping. Walking around shops full of furniture with bones and trinkets with stories allows me to be in the moment as I wander down hallways and allow my curiosity to flourish. I have recently developed a newfound love for antique shopping after discovering a few original pieces from Renoir, Degas and Matisse (more on that later), which has encouraged me to think of this favorite hobby as attendance to a free art exhibit, only that these shops are museums more than anybody realizes.
The next time you lose your center or are in need of clarity, promise me that you’ll do this: stop where you are, drop the weight off your shoulders and absorb your surroundings by taking a few breaths.
