It’s funny how I had just published a blog post stating that my hair prefers gel over mousse then all of a sudden, my hair decides that it will love mousse too. The thing is, I experiment with my hair on a weekly, if not, daily basis. Lately I’ve been focusing on extending my washes and it seems like three days is the max my hair can handle. Last week, I decided to try extending a wash utilizing mousse, specifically the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Mousse by Sunny Isle.
Truthfully, I didn’t like my results as much on wash day, but as the days went on, my hair looked better and curlier! The packaging label promises thicker, fuller hair, which is what becomes more visible in my fine hair after I refresh it for next-day curls. It is also sulfate and parabens-free making it a CGM (curly girl method) friendly product.
Because of the positive response I saw in my hair, and because I’ve been itching to try a tutorial, I decided to record a ‘Get Ready With Me’ video focusing on refreshing my 3rd day curly hair with the star being Sunny Isle’s JBCO Mousse. Please note that although you’ll see in my video that my hair looks stiff once it’s dry, it’s not due to Sunny Isle’s mousse, but rather due to another product I use in my lineup. The mousse, when used by itself (yes, I’ve tried it solo several times), will dry in a much more smooth and soft manner. On that note, if you’re ever worried about having stiff and crunchy hair because of a product you’re using, consider utilizing the SOTC (scrunch out the crunch) method, which is demonstrated in my video below.

I purchased the JBCO Mousse by Sunny Isle to try on my own and was not paid nor sponsored to feature it. Reviews and opinions are my own. More hair inspiration here.
