Wallpaper is a favorite around here, and is also a favorite design element of interior designer Paul L’Esperance. When I first met Paul, he kept raving an extreme excitement for how he was going to transform the main staircase and upstairs gallery at the 2017 Pasadena Showcase House. Familiar with the magic of wallpaper, but not entirely aware of the many possibilities, the end result of Paul’s Showcase section proved his point about a wallpaper’s impact in a room.

“Wallpaper and wall fabric give a richness that is a completely different experience than paint or paint treatments. It helps with sound absorption and we have the ability to digitally create any environment we like. Now, we can print ornate carved molding or plaster reliefs that would take many hours and be cost-prohibitive. It’s also instant gratification. In one day we can have an entirely new room,” Paul explains.

With wallpaper that can print virtually any visual one could imagine, this incredibly custom design option also provides the luxury of changeable environments with how easy it is to remove and apply wallpaper. At the Showcase House, you will find hand-painted landscape wainscot panels and many other surprising textures captured on wallpaper in Paul’s room design. There is more info on how and where to view his design below, BUT FOR NOW, a collection of images to inspire your next wallpaper venture be it with patterns, moldings or even tufted textures…

Paul is one of the selected designers for the upcoming 2017 Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts. He will be designing the main staircase and upstairs gallery.

The collective goal of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts is to provide funding to programs that benefit the community through diverse music programs that nurture the study and appreciation of music, provide music as a vehicle towards health and healing, offer music education knowing that the study of music enhances other academic subjects, as well as cultural enrichment, and ensure that music is available to a broad range of audiences. Learn more about Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
